| Do you know a young musician
who plays the recorder and shows
outstanding
potential? |

Dear Recorder
Players/enthusiasts and
Teachers
Chetham’s School of
Music will be opening its doors on Saturday
18 February for an Open
Morning and we would like to warmly
invite you to
attend.
Chetham’s has a very
active recorder and early music department,
taught under the guidance of Alan Davis and
Chris Orton, both well known players, teachers
and artists. The department is extremely
creative and dynamic - students are exposed to a
wide variety of music from cutting-edge
contemporary music and improvisation, to
stylistic interpretations of early music based
around ensembles with strings and harpsichord,
singers and other 'early
instruments'.
This year our students
have participated in workshops with Rachel
Brown and the London Handel
Players, Peter Williams,
Ross Winters, Peter Holtslag and
Pamela Thorby. We also have a regular
Baroque Series, performed in our beautiful
15th century Baronial
Hall.
The school welcomes
players from Juniors through to Sixth Form entry
and is looking for potential and innate
musicianship, as well as ability. At our Open
Morning, you will hear some of
our recorder players and baroque ensembles in
open rehearsals as well as a full spectrum of
our other musical activities - we would love to
see you here!
